The Children’s Rights Club (CRC) at Manda Secondary School in Choma has provided learners with an important platform to participate in decision-making processes affecting their education and wellbeing.

Through the CRC, learners identified the need for additional classroom space and submitted a request for classroom expansion. Their concerns were taken seriously and received the necessary attention from school authorities and other stakeholders. As a result, the construction of a new classroom block is now underway.

The initiative has also received strong support from the local community. Community members have contributed building materials, including sand, and have moulded bricks to support the construction process, demonstrating their commitment to improving the learning environment for children.

In addition, the work of the Children’s Rights Club has contributed to reducing child rights violations within the community, particularly cases of early pregnancies among school-going children. By raising awareness of children’s rights and promoting meaningful participation, the CRC has empowered learners to become advocates for positive change within their school and community.
